I pulled out the paints and did some painting
though lately i've been doodling up some clothing designs. and hopefully i'll get around to making them soon. (need one of them for a wedding...)
but i've been working at a fleet graphic company, was hired as general labour more than a year ago now. then I became the lead vinyl cutter/finisher, then installer... and now i'm also the graphic designer. while getting paid $15/hr to do the work of 4 people... (minus the screen printer and making the screens, I can do everyones job even shipping and sales...) I work for a company that when I say where I work to other people in the industry they go "oh" and look sorry for me... and it's fucking warranted... I work for a company that can't pull it's head out of it's ass and get shit in order... 5 out of 10 jobs are wrong because 1 of those jobs the costumer was wrong and didn't check measurements, and the other 3 are cause we have a sales rep who is just dumb, and no one managed to catch the mistake (which we get 90% of the time) and the last one is because someone (one of a possible 8 people) in the back made a human error... the paperwork is bad. the storage and inventory of files is shit. the computers... omg, the fucking computers. all PC's; one is 12 yrs old one is 9 and another 8. these are the computers that we create the artwork on, store all the artwork. and the sales reps who only need their computers to fill out a excel file and email all have computers under 3 years old... that have no god damn RAM and shitty processors. when we want to open/save/move something large in the file; it often takes at least 5 minutes (sometimes and hour) of thinking/frozen time. these employers do not invest in their company nor their employees. i've been there for a little over a year, not including the at least 15 people hired for short term (cause the sales and employers can't schedule a project properly and require double staff and demanding overtime for 3 soild weeks) i've seen 9 people come and go... in a year. in a company that has 15 full time staff (including employer)
and the only reason i'm still there... cause the other graphic designer beat me to giving in my two weeks and i felt sorry for totally fucking over the people in the back, if i left too.
what's the most frustrating, is that the work is actually enjoyable, but only if the people in the front would just smarten up, actually put what is needed on the paperwork, so we can just do our jobs in the back. but no... that would be simple. cause god knows people like to make things pointlessly hard... friggin assholes...
damn... i didn't mean for this to become a rant... yeah1!!!! doodles...?
